DESIGN FOR ORNAMBNTING GLASS-WARE.
The Schedule referred to in these Letters Patent and making peut of the same.
To all whom *it may concern:
Be it known that I, JOHN BRYOE, of East Birmingham, iu the county oi'Allegbeny, and State of Pennsylvania, have invented a new and useful Design for Glass-Ware; and I do hereby declare the-following to be a full, clear, and exact description thereof, reference being had to the accompanying drawing, making a part of this speciiication, in which- Figure 1 is a plan View of my improved design;
Figure 2 is a sectional view through .fr-x, fig.1, illustrative of tbe raised and rougbened structureof the leaves; and
Figure 3 is a sectional view through xls', fig. l,
'illustrative of the raised representation of the fruit or berries.
Like letters of reference indicate like parts in each.
My improved design consists in the raised representation, on the face of glass-ware, of a grapevine, leaves, and fruit, the vine being striated, and the face of the leaves roughened.
The design is made on tbe article of glass-ware in 'rellen-o, by the use of properly-shaped cavities in the moulds.
The vine a is striated on its upper face, in imitation of the small lines or striations of the natural vine, as shown.
The leaves b are likewise raised, and the face of each leaf, between the raised skeleton `find edges, is rongbened, as it is termed in the art.
This design I arrange by repeating it, if necessary, on and around the bowl of one or all the bowled articles of a set of glass-ware, and it" arranged around a central knob, d, or a stem or foot, I use it with or without the raised ends e of bunches of grapes, and e of grape leaves, the latter being rongbened as before described, and both pointing radially out from suoli knob or stem, and arranged alternately with each other.
What I 'claim as my invention, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
A design for glass-ware, consisting of striated vine a, fruit c, and roughened leaves b, the whole being 'y made in relieve, and arranged substantially as shown.
In testimony whereof,`I, the said JOHN Baron,
have hereunto set my hand.
JOHN BRYOE. Witnesses:
