DESIGN FOR THE FACE-PLATE OF A LATCH.

The Schedule referred to in these Lettera Patent and making part of the san.;

I, EMERY PARKER, of New Britain, in the county of i-Iartt'ord, and State of Connecticut, have invented and produced a new and original Design furthe Facellate ofa Lock nr Latch, ci' whieh the ihllowing is a specification.

The accompanying drawing shows a front elevation oi' my design.

A designates the bolt, and B the latch-mortises.

\\hen the leek is placed in its inortise in the doorstile, and the door opened, the plate is exposed te new.

To give an ornamental effect to the plate, I border its edge with one or more channels a, sunk in the plate, which give the appearance of a sunken panel, although not such.

I also prefer to border the bolt and latch-inortises, A and B, with similar channels (t.

Ii' desired, the spaces between the channels and the innrlises may be iilled in with ornamental scroll-work. WIhat I elaini as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
