Thes chedule referred to in these Letters Patent and making part of the same.

To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, SAMUEL WAGNER, of Galion, county of Crawford, and State of Ohio, have invented a new and improved Door-Fastener and Protecting- Knob; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the same, suflicient to enable others skilled in the art to which my invention appertains, to makeand use thesame, reference being had to the accompanying drawing, forming part of this specification, in' which my invention is represented by a side elevation, the lower part of the door being shown in red. I

The object of this invention consists of a base or ev secured to .the wash-board, and provided with a knob, to prevent the door-knob or key from striking theflwall, and also having a springcatch, which holds the door open, as will be hereinafter more fully described.

In the drawings A 'is a base, which is made of wood or metal, of any suitable form, and adapted to be secured to the washboard, by means of screws. I prefer tocast this base of metal, and'with projections, a a, on its face.

The protective knob B ismade either of wood or metal, entirely, or of the two combined, and it is attached to the base A, by means of a screw, or otherwise.

- The head of the knob is faced with rubber, or cloth,

to prevent the doorfron being defaced by contact therewith.

The fastener consists of a spring-bar, 0, having a bevelled head, 0, and a shoulder, d. This-bar 0 may be fixed'in a socket, D, attached to the base A.

It will be seen that when the door, which is shown in red lines, is swung back, it will, by coming in contact with the bevelled end, 0, of the spring, depress the latter, and strike the knob B, when, having passed'' said bevel, the spring resumes its former position, and holds the door open until released by pressure on the part c. i

This device can be furnished at a very small price,

and its use will obviate the necessity of placing a weight, i V or some article of furniture, as is usual,'in front of the door, to hold it open, as well as preventing the doorknob or key from breaking the plastering, and protecting the door from defacementby contact with the protectiug-knob. Having thus described my invention, What I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-

A protective knob and spring door-holder, in combination with a base, A, adapted to be secured to the wash-board or wall.
