DESIGN FOR A HANDLE FOR SPOONS OR SIMILAR ARTICLES.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 35 ,862, dated April 15, 1902. Application filed March 5, 1902. Serial No. 96,857. Term of patent 7 years.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, EUGENE H. II. SMITH, a citizen of the United States,residing at Bridgeport, county of Fail-field, State of Connecticut, have invented and produced a new and originalDesign for a Handle for a Spoon or Similar Article, of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying drawing, forming a part thereof.
The figure is a front view of my design for fiat metal tableware, showing its application to a spoon.
The leading features of my novel design consist of the shape and ornamentation of the handle, substantially as herein shown and described. The outlines of the edges of thehandle areslightlyconcavecurves extending from the widest portion of the panel to the narrowest portion of the stem and then curving outward and then inward again to form a swell near the bowl, and the ornamentation consists of conventional foliage, bud, and bloom of the iris in raised relief.
1 denotes the panel, whose sides are convex curves; 2, the stem, whose sides are concave curves, and 3 the swell near the bowl. at denotes a raised rib surrounding the edge of the panel, stem, and swell. At the portion of the handle where the stem runs into the panel I provide ornamentation consisting of the conventional bloom 5 and bud 6 of the iris, and upon the swell near the bowl I provide ornamentation consisting of the conventional foliage of the iris.
What I claim is- The design for a handle for a spoon or similar article, substantially as described and shown.
