Weauag- June/2362 UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
AXEL E. OLSSON, OF CHICAGO, ILLINOIS, ASSIGNOR TO S. KARPEN & BROS, OF CHICAGO, ILLINOIS, A COPARTNERSHIP.
DESIGN FOR A LEG FOR COUCHES.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 35,726, dated February 11, 1902.
Application filed June 17, 1901. SerialNo. 64,966. Term of patent 3% years.
To all whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, AXEL E. OLSSON, a citizen of the United States, residing at Chicago, county of Cook, and State of Illinois, have invented and produced a new and original Design for Legs of Couches, of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, forming-a part thereof, and in which Figure 1 is a front elevation of a leg embodying myinvention. Fig. 2 is an end eleva tion drawn to a reduced scale.
The leg comprises a lower portion or base of Italian renaissance, being a number of claw-legs AA in bold relief. These are bound together at their upper ends by the band D, and this band has its ends interlaced. The upper portion of the design is in relief less bold than the claw-legs and is a symmetrical representation of short con ventionalized acanthus-leaves B, with drooping ends at the top of the leg, all grouped about a rosette C in the center of the foliage, said rosette being a conventionalized acanthus blossom. The upper end of the leg is of less width than 25 the lower end, and the middle part of the leg is of less width than said upper end, appearing to be drawn in by the band D.
The essential features of my design are the broad lower or base part representinga num- 3o scribing witnesses.
AXEL E. OLSSON. Witnesses:
