EMERY PARKER, OF NEW BRITAIN, CONNECTICUT, ASSIGNOR TO THE RUSSELL AND ERWIN MANUFACTURING COMPANY, OF SAME PLACE.
Design No. 3,534, dated J one 8, 1869.
DESIGN FOR THE PACE-PLATE OF A KING-B.
The Schedule referred to in these Letters Patent and making part of the lame.
To all whom it may emum'n:
Be it known that 1, Emmy PARKER, of New Britain, in the county of Hartford, and State of Connecticut, have originated and designed a new Design for Face-Plate for Hinge; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description thereof, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, making a part of this specification.
In the drawings- Figure 1 represents a door-hinge, the leaves of which are covered by an ornamental face-plate.
The leaf A shows the complete design.
The leaf B is deficient in the central shield, which is shown separately at Figure 2.
The edge of the plate is surrounded by a band, a, which may be raised or otherwise, and be plain, or some ornamental moulding.
The central portion is a shield, C, which bears upon its face a monogram.
The remaining space is filled with ornamental work in relief, upon either a plain or matted ground.
The design is intended to be employed in those cases where a distinctive character is to be given to the doorhinges, by causing them to bear the monogram of the owner, to correspond with a. like monogram with which mirror-frames, library-cases, and the arched heads of door-ways are often ornamented.
For convenience, the pattern from which the design is to be made has the central shield removable, so that different centre-pieces, bearing different monograms, can be used with the same pattern.
What I claim as my invention, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
The design for a. hinge-plate, consisting of the edgeband or moulding a, the central-shield 0, bearing a monogram of letters, and the space between the shield and the edge-hand filled with ornamental scroll-work in relief, all substantial] y as herein described and shown.
EMERY PARKER.
