EMERY C. HODGES, OF FARMER CITY, ILLINOIS.
DESIGN FOR A TOMBSTONE OR MONUMENT.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 34,744, dated July 2, 1901.
Application filed May 23, 1901. Serial No. 61,625. Term of patent '7 years.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, EMERY O. HODGES, a citizen of the United States, residing at Farmer City, in the county of Dewitt and State of Illinois, have invented and produced a certain new andoriginal Design for Tombstones or Monuments, of which the following is a specification.
My invention is a new and useful design for a monument or tombstone, the object being, the provision of a design of this character which will be useful as well as attractive and beautiful and which will be symbolic.
7 With this object in View my invention consists of the design for monuments or tombstones, asshown and described in the following specification.
Figure 1 represents a front view of a monument or tombstone of my design, and Fig. 2 represents a back or rear View of the monument or tombstone.
The monument or tombstone is particularly adapted for marking the grave of a father or mother, and comprises the stump of a tree A, having the bark ornamentation B and on the front the panel C and the lily or purity ornamentation D and on the back the grape-vine ornamentation E. The stump is cut off at the top, and upon the platform F rests the sheaf of wheat G and the basket II, filled with fruit J.
I claim- The design for a monument or tombstone shown and described.
