INVENTOR BY ogww ATTORNEY WITNESSES:
UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
JOHN A. SEUOR, Ol- NEVi' YORK, N. Y., ASSIGNOR TO THE GENERAL POW'ER COMPANY, OF NEW' JERSEY.
DESIGN FOR AN ENGINE-FRAME.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 33,387, dated October 16, 1900.
Application filed September 11,1900. Serial No. 29,729. Term of patent 14 years.
To all whont it Duty concern:
Be it known that l, JOHN A. SECOR, a citizen of the United States, residing in the borough of vBrooklyn, iu the city of New York,
5 in the State of New York, have invented and produced a new and original Design for Engine-Frames, of which the following is a specification, reference being bad to the accompanying drawings, making a part thereof, and
X in which Figure 1 is an end view, Fig. 2 a side view, and Fig. Ll a plan view, of an engine-frame having the shape and configuration embraced in my said design.
:5 The base A is tlat, or substantially so, and above and parallel with this is the bottom a of the cylinder B, which said bottom is circumferentially extended beyond the circumference of the body of the cylinder, as shown atb. This extended portion is provided with several bosses 1-, which are of more or less rounded or circular contour, as seen from above and as more fully shown in Fig. 3. The body of the cylinder above its lower and extended part Z) is cylindrical or, in other words, circular in its horizontal cross-section. The vertical standards O, which are between the bed-plate and the cylinder, are coincident, or substantially so, with the bosses c and are quite or approximately parallel with each other. Oblique rods D extend from the base-plate to the extended lower part I) of the cylinder, the upper end of each rod being contiguous to a boss 0, while its lower end is not far from the adjacent edge of the base plate. These oblique rods, which, in connection with the circumferentially extended lower part b of the cylinder, broaden and emphasize the general contour and appearance of the enginefraine, are oblique to the vor- 0 tical standards and are farther apart at the bed-plate than at the bottom I) of the cylinder, as more fully illustrated in Fig. .l, the rods at each end of the frame, being in line with the standards at said end, affording, in 5 end view of the frame, the appearance, so to speak, of a truncated pyramid below the eylindric part of the frame as viewed from the ends of the latter, as just herein implied.
This design is applicable to the frames of steam-engines, explosive-motors, and other motive-power mechanisms which comprise in their combination or operation a vertical cylinder mounted above and at a distance from a suitable base.
Having thus described my said invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
The design for an engine-frame as herein shown and described.
In testimony whereof I have signed my name in the presence of two subscribing witmesses.
JOHN A. SECOR.
