UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
VIENNA MAY DIXON, OF MAYSVILLE, MISSOURI.
DESIGN FOR A TUG-FASTENER.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 31,894, dated November 28, 1899. Application filed October 2'7, 1899. Serial No, 735,009. Term of patent 14 years.
To all whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, VIENNA MAY DIXON, a citizen of the United States, residing at Maysville, in the county of De Kalb and State of Missouri, have invented and produced a new and original Design for a Tug-Fastener, of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, forming part thereof.
Figure l is a perspective view of a tugfastener, showing my new design. Fig. 2 is a central sectional view taken on a line running lengthwise of Fig. 1.
As shown in the drawings, the leading or material features of my design consist of a head portion, shown at the right-hand end in the drawings, and a tapering portion, shown at the left-hand end. The details of the head are a cylindrical terminal portion A, having a rounded end B, and two projecting angular portions G, set on opposite sides of the cylindrical portion A. Separated by an interval D from the projecting portions 0 is another aud larger projection E, extending radially outward from the main body A. The
outer margin of said projection is represented in Fig. 1 as octagonal in form. Contiguous to said projection E is another cylindrical portion F of the same size as the portion D, and said portion F terminates in an angular shoulder G. From the shoulder G the fastener gradually decreases in diameter, and is also provided with a projecting spiral rib H, which extends continuously from the shoulder G to the smaller end of the fastener. The edges of said spiral rib are sharpened, so as to resemble, when seenin cross-section, as in Fig. 2, the teeth of a saw.
Having described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
The design for a tug-fastener, as herein shown and described.
In testimony whereof I aflix my signature in the presence of two witnesses.
VIENNA MAY DI XON.
Witnesses: F. A. SPENCER, I. L. LANGE.
