DESIGN FOR A GONG FOR BELLS.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 31,360, dated August 8, 1899.

To a. whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, EDWARD D. ROCKWELL, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of Bristol, in the county of Hartford and State of Connecticut, have invented and produced a new and original Design for Gongs for Belle, of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying draw ings, forming a part thereof.
Figure 1 is a bottom view of a gong for a bell, showing my new design. Fig. 2 is a view in side elevation of the gong.
The gong in which my invention is embodied isof rounded outline when seen in bottom View, as shown in Fig. 1, and it is also rounded on the upper surface, as shown in Fig. 2, where the gong is depicted in side view. A band a extends circumferentially around the gong, and on each side of this band is a line of projections or beadsb 0, also extending around the gong, the band having a plain surface and the rows of beads or projections forming a border defining each edge of this band.
The essential feature of the design consists of a band having a plain surface and with each edge defined by a border of bead-like projections.
Having described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is A The design for a gong for a bell substantially as herein shown and described.
