SPECIFICATION fOrmIlg part Of Design NO. 30,731, dated May 9, 1899.
Application filed Apri113, 1899. Serial No. 712,936i Term oi patent 7 years.
l'o @ZZ whom it may concern:
Beit known that I, RICHARD WHITAKER, a citizen of the United States, residing at New Brunswick, in the county of Middlesex and State of New Jersey, have invented and produced a new and original Design for a Horseshoe-Pad; and I do hereby'declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the same, reference being had to the accompanyingdrawings, forminga part thereof.
In said drawings, Figure 1 isa bottom face view of a horseshoe-pad embodying my new design. Fig. 2 is a vertical longitudinal sec- ILion on line m a; of Fig. 1.
The object of my invention is to provide a design for horseshoe-pads; and to this end said invention eonsistsin the design as herein set forth and shown.
The leading feature of my design for a pad consists in a horseshoe-shape front portion terminating in a heel portion of greater width, the front of said heel having two scallops of the same length, the horseshoe-shape cavity in the pad terminating against said two scallops and having a horseshoe-shape ledge surrounding said cavity, said ledge being provided with a row of stitches. The sides of the heel have two wings tapering toward the front, and said sides, as well as the rear of the heel, are provided with a row of stitches, and the face of the pad is provided with rows of hexagonal ridges with small selnispherical projections in the hollows.
The pad consists of a horseshoc-backin g A, to which is secured by rows of stitches fthe pad proper, B, the front portion of which is horseshoe shape and is beveled inwardly and outwardly and terminatesin the heel portion C of greater width. The front of said heel has two beveled scallops c c, having their dividing-line in the axis of the heel, and two wings c2, tapering toward the front. The face of the pad is provided with rows of hexagonal ridges b with small semispherical projections in the bottom of the hollows, and within the periphery of the cavity of the pad there is a horseshoe-shape ledge e, provided with a row of stitches d. The rear and sides of the heel are also provided with a rubber ledge f, integral therewith and provided with a row of stitches d to secure the pad to the backing.
Having now fully described my invention, I claim- The design for a horseshoe-pad as herein shown and described.
In testimony whereof I affix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
