SPRDCKET WHEEL.
(Application filed Sept. 10, 1898) s Pinks co. mo-ramm UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
JOHN T. FANNING, OF CHICAGO, ILLINOIS.
DESIGN FOR A SPROCKET-WHEEL.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 29,948, dated January 3, 1899.
Application filed September 10, 1898. Serial No. 690,696\ Term of patent 3- 1 years.
To all whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, JOHN T. FANNING, residing at Chicago, in the county of Cook and State of Illinois, have invented and produced a new and original Design for Sprocket- Vheels, of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the acco1npanying drawings, forming a part thereof.
In the drawings, Figure 1 shows my new design in side elevation. Fig. 2 is a central vertical section of the same.
The leading or characteristic features of the design consist in the wheel having the shape or configuration shown in the drawings, in which a denotes the hub. 13 is the shaftopening. 0 c are spokes. d d are ornamental tips extending inwardly from the rim. e e are openings between spokes c. f is the rim. g g are sprocket-teeth extending outwardly from rim f. h hare holes in the spokes and are adj aoent rim f. Mare holes in spokes c and are located adjacent hub a. 7:. are small circular holes in the spokes and are located between holes h and 1'. Holes 72, 7c, and 11 are of the contour shown in the drawings.
The spokes c are wide near the hub, narrow at their mid-length, and broadened near the rim f to unite with tips (1, as shown. The reverselycurved edges of the spokes are joined near hub 61. and are extended to join tips (1. By such arrangement or collocation of the spoke edges openings e of the familiar heart shape are formed between the spokes.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-- The design for a sprocket-wheel, substantially as herein shown and described.
