Description
UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
IIEMAN D. CROOKER, OF ALVIN, TEXAS.
DESIGN FOR A CLOTHES-POUNDER.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 29,412, dated September 27, 1898.
Application filed August Z3, 1898. Serial No. 689,358. Term oipatent 14 years,
To aid whom it may concern:
lie it known that I, HEMAN I). CROOKER, a citizen of the United States, residing at Alvin, in the county of Brazoria and State of Texas, have invented and produced a new and original Design for a Clothes-Founder, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to a new and original design for a clothes-pounder; and it has for its object to provide a new and original design of this character that shall be both useful and ornamental.
'lheleading feature of the design resides in a hollow conical body provided at an intermediate point with a downwardly-dished diaphragm, a central longitudinally-arranged tube provided with a conical lower end flared downwardly and projecting through and below the diaphragm, and a flaring pendent circular flange projected downwardly from the diaphragm in a plane between the shell of the body and the conical lower end of the tube.
The minor features of the design are the central longitudinally-arranged tube of the bod y, projected through and above the apex of 1 he body and provided at its extreme upper end with an exterior annular bead or rib, said tube being further provided within the conical lower end thereof with a circular series of openings arranged in a plane above the central portion of the downwardly-dished diaphragm.
Additional minor features of the design are the body, having a circular group of inclined short tapering tubes projecting outwardly therefrom at a point near its apex, said body further having the lower edges of its rim, its pendent circular flange, and the lower conical end of its tube arranged in different horizontal planes.
In the drawings, Figure 1 is a perspective view of a clothespounder embodying the herein-described design. Fig. 2 is a vertical longitudinal sectional view thereof. Fig. 3 is a bottom plan view of the same.
Referring to the accompanying drawings, the numeral 1 designates a hollow conical body provided at an intermediate point with an interior downwardly-dished diaphragm 2, which diaphragm is centrally pierced by the central longitudinally-arranged tube 3. The central tube 3 extends through and above the apex of the body and is surrounded at its extreme upper end by an annular rounded bead orrib 4, while at its lower end said tube 3 has a conical portion 4-, flaring downwardly and projecting below the plane of the interior diaphragm 2. The downwardly-fiaring conical portion of the central tube 3 is provided therein witha circularseries ofcircular openings 5, which are arranged in a plane above the plane of the central portion of the diaphragm 2. At a point between the conical lower end 1 of the tube and the rim of the body the latter is further provided with a flaring pendent circular flange 6, which projects downwardly from the diaphragm 2 to a point below the lower edge of the conical lower end i of said tube. The lower edge of the body and the lower edge of the rim 3 and of the conical end i of the tube lie in differcnthorizontal planes, as clearly illust rated in Fig. 9 of the drawings.
To complete the design, the body 1 is further provided with an exteriorcircular group of short tapering tubes 7. The tapering tubes 7 are downwardly inclined, and are offset from the body in a circular plane near the apex thereof.
What is claimed is- The design for a clothes-poumler, herein shown and described.
In testimony that I claim the foregoing as my own I have hereto affixed my signature in the presence of two witnesses.
