UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
\VILLIAN BURT ERODERICK, OF CLEVELAND, OIIIO.
DESIGN FOR A FlRE-KlNDLER.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 28,404, dated March 22, 1898.
Application fil d January 20, 1898. Serial No. 667.349. Term of patent 14 years.
To all whmn it may concern:
Be it known that I, \VILLIAM BURT BROD- ERICK, a citizen of the United States, residing at Cleveland, in the county of Cuyahoga and State of Ohio, have invented and produced a certain new and original Design for a Fire- Kindler; and I do declare the following to he a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.
My invention relates to a design for a firekindler.
The design consists of the configuration of the fire-kindler, as illustrated in the accompanying drawings, in which the same reference characters indicate the same parts of the invention.
Figure 1 is a perspective view of a firekindler embodying my design, and Fig. 2 is a transverse vertical section of the same.
The leading features of my design appear in the following description:
1 denotes the convex bottom, terminating in an upwardly-flaring circumferential lip 52.
3 represents the foraminous cylindrical wall, and 4 denotes the arch-shaped bail, formed with a central depending eye 5, by which the kindler is manipulated.
The kindler is first filled with ashes or similar refuse material, which is then saturated with coal-oil, and it is then placed under the grate of coal-stoves and on the grate of woodstoves and the oil ignited.
Having thus fully described my invention, what I claim, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
The design for a lire-kindler, substantially as herein shown and described.
In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand in presence of two subscribing witnesses.
WILLIAM BURT BRODERICK.
