To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I,JACOB -lACOBS,0f Brooklyn, in the county of Kings, and in the State of New York, have invented a certain new and original Design for Lenses for Illuminating- Gratings; and I do herebydeclare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description thereof, reference being bad to the accompanying drawings, in which Figure 1 isa perspective view of a lens enibodying my design, and Fig. i is a cross-section of the same.
Letters of like name and kind refer to like parts in each of the figures.
The object of my invention is to provide a design for lenses for illuininating-gratings; and to this end said invention consists in the design fora lens, substantially as hereinafter specified.
The leading feature of my design consists of the lens A, provided with prisms B and 13, having waved or scalloped edges 1) and b.
As shown in the drawings, the lens consists of a plate A, having one face plane and on its other face a number of parallel ribs or prisms I3 and B, that are triangular in cross section, one face of each rib being perpendicular to the plate and the other inclined. The latter is a plane surface, but the perpendicular face has a waved 0r scalloped forma- (ion from end to end that is produced by a series of concavities b and I).
My lens has not only a unique appearance, but it has superior light-transmitting capacity.
