Description

UNITED STATES IIOIVARD K. BROOKS, OF CHICAGO,
PATENT OFFICE.
ILLINOIS.
DESIGN FOR A BICYCLE SEAT-POST STEM.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 26,897, dated April 13, 1897.
Application filed November 2'7, 1896. Serial No, 613,701. Term of patent 3- years.
To aZZ whom, it may concern:
Be it known that I, HOWARD K. BROOKS, a citizen of the United States, residing at Chicago, in the county of Cook and State of Illinois, have invented and produced a new and original Design for Bicycle Seat-Post Stems, of which the following is a specification.
Figure 1 is a side elevation of a seat-post stem for bicycles, showing my design. Fig. 2 is a rear elevation of the same, and Fig. 3 is a cross-section on broken line 4 5.
The principal feature in my design cornprises a main body portion A, whose form, as shown, is a cylinder having oppositely-flattened sides, said sides being rectangular in outline and disposed in planes relatively parallel one to the other. The portion A is surmounted by a cylindrical portionB, having a diameter and length about equal to the diameter of portion A between the flattened sides. The lower portion or shank D of this seat post stem is cylindrical in shape and of smaller diameter than either of the other portions, and disposed between the upper end of lower portion or shank D and lower end of the main body portion A is a collar C,'which is only slightly larger than the greatest diameter of portion A, the general shape being that of a cylinder having the upper marginal corner slightly rounded.
The several portions are disposed to be substantially coaxial, and in length each to the other about the same as shown and de scribed.
I claim The design for a seat-post stein for bicycles, substantially as herein shown and described.
In testimony that I claim the foregoing I have hereunto set my hand, this 24th day of November, 1896, in the presence of witnesses.
HOIVARD K. BROOKS.
Witnesses:
