DESIGN.
M. MOSKOWITZ. CASING FOR DYNAMOS.
No. 25,529. Patented May 19, 1896.
WITNESSES ATTORNEY ANDREW BGRAMM RIOID umo wAsummou ac UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
lllORlIIS MOSKOWI'IZ, 011 NElVAltK, NEIV JERSEY, ASSIGNOR TO 'llll l NA- TIONAL IG'LEC'JIHU (All LIG II'IING- COMPAN Y, OF IVEST VIRGINIA.
DESIGN FOR A. CASING FOR DYNAMOS.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design NO. 25,529, dated May 19, 1896.
Application filed January 11, 1896. Serial No. 575,185 Term of patent 14 years.
To (all whom it may concern:
130 it known that I, Mourns MOSKO Wl'l'Z, a citizen of the llnited States, residing at Newark, in the countyof Essex and State of New Jersey, have invented a certain new and useful Design for a asing for Dynamos; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the same, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it pertains to make and use it, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, which form part of this specification.
My invention relates to a new and useful design for a casing for dynamos such as is used on the axles of railway-cars,from which the dynamo derives its power to generate electricity; and it consists in the novel configuration and ornamentation of the casing shown.
The design clearly illustrated in the aceompanying drawings, in which liigure 1 is a perspective view of my novel design for a casing when looking at the same from the top, and Fig. 1 is a similar view of the casing when the same is viewed from the bottom. Figs. 2 and 3 are two vertical crossscctions of the casing, said sections being represented as taken in planes at right an glcs to each other.
The casing herein shown is to be used in connection with a dynamo placed on one of the axles of a railway-ca1x In said drawings, A indicates my novel form of easing, the body of which. has a fiat top a, which is formed with the curved edge (1. sun rounding it on. its four sides. The downwardly-extending sides are connected by the curved corners a and each side has a ledge a which projects at a right angle from the body of the casing. Said ledge has the round ed corners a and on the two opposite sides 40 is relieved by semicircular portions (t ,\\'l1lClL are open, as at a", and when viewed in side elevation form semicircles, as clearly represented in Fig. 2. Depending from the inner surface of the top of the casing is a projection I), which is of a rectangular shape, but is formed with the rounded edges b and the lower surface D which is concave, being the true are of a circle when viewed in crosssection.
In the top and bottom surfaces of the easing is a depression 0, which extends down into said projections 7). The four sides of said depression are bounded by the curved edges 0', and said sides are inwardly inclined toward the points where they meet the flat surface of said depression. The continuity of said ledges of, as has been stated, is broken on two opposite sides by the curved recesses or open parts (1' which are in perfect alinement with each other.
The essential feature of my design is the ornamental feature of the casing, having the marginal ledge a, which is broken on opposite sides by the curved recesses, and the ornamental projection Z), substantially as shown.
llaving thus described my invention, what I claim is- The design for a casing for dynamos, substantially as herein shown and described.
In testimony that I claim the invention set forth above I have hereunto set my hand this 26th day of December, .1895.
MORRIS MOSKOIVITZ.
