Rnltuzns, a eitizen of the linited States, residing at lintt'alo, in the county of Erie and State of New York, have invented and produced a new and original Design [orliralus-Beams, oliwhiehthe following is a specification, reierenee being bad to the aeeompanying drawings, showing a part thereof.
This design relates to the configuration of metallic brake-beams for railway-ears and is represented in the aemnnpanying drawings, which form a part oi this speeitimition, and in whieh l ignre is a top plan Yiew of a inake-beam embodying my design. Fig. is a rear View thereof, partly in longitudinal section. Fig. I is a eross-seetion thereof in line 3, Fig. 1.
Like letters of reference refer to like parts in the several figures.
The leading feature of my design consists in the taper of the beam from its middle toward its ends, raised marginal ribs extending along the front and rear edges of the beam on both sides of its web or body, and raised intermediate ribs arranged on opposite sides of the web and extending obliquely from the middle of the beam toward its ends.
A represents the central longitndi nal web or body of the beam, which tapers or diminishes in width from its middle toward its ends and which has straight-sided end portions ll.

The front and rear sides of the straight end portions B are flush with the edges of the raised ribs d, and r, as shown in Fig. 2.
