No. 24,630. Patented Aug. 27, 1895.
72/ see: swat-07"; a M g UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
\VILLIAM CECIL BOWER, OF BIRMINGHAM, ALABAMA.
DESIGN FOR A BADGE.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 24,630, dated August 27, 1895.
Application filed July 2, 1895. Serial No. 554,170. Term ofpatent 3% years.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that 1, WILLIAM CECIL Bowen, a citizen of the United States, residing-at Birmingham, in the county of Jefiierson and State of Alabama, have invented a certain new and useful Design for a Badge; and I do declare the following to bea full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawing, which forms a part of this'specification.
This invention relates to certain new and useful designs for badges, and the essential features of the design comprise the usual characters which appear upon the face of a clock-dial, the representation of a lion in a rearing attitude, standing upon its hind legs and having its forefeet resting upon the place where the pointers meet at the center of the dial.
In the accompanying drawing I have shown the pointers as indicating the time to be sixteen minutes to one oclock. To the left of the short hand, when in the position thus shown, is an inverted cornucopia, from which is falling a quantity of disks directly upon the long hand, while upon the lower portion of the face of the dial appears a circular panel upon which may be placed any suitable characters.
Having thus described my design, What I claim to be new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
The design for a badge, substantially as shown and described.
In testimony whereof I ai'fix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
\VILLIAM CECIL BO WER.
