CHARLES \V. SPALDING, OF CHICAGO, ILLINOIS, ASSIGNOR TO THE GLOBE SAVINGS BANK, OF SAME PLACE.
DESIGN FOR A SIGN.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 22,585, dated July 4, 1893.
Application filed January 15, 1891. Serial No. 377,896. Term of patent 14 years.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, CHARLES W. SPALDING, a citizen of the United States, residing at Oh icago, in the county of Cook and State of Illinois, have invented a new, useful, and artistic Design for a Sign, having certain ornamentation thereon, the distinctive features of which consist of a base having the outline configuration of a cloud having rifts therein, a bundle of faces in front of such cloud, and a globe in front of the faces.
In the drawing illustrating my invention, A, A, are clouds having breaks or rifts a, a, therein.
B, is a bundle of sticks bound together by band C.
D, is an ax, the handle whereof is lettered (Z, and passes through the bundle of sticks B, extending out from and beyond both ends of such bundle of sticks, and having thereon at one end thereof the battle-ax blade (1.
E, is a globe in front of the bundle of sticks B midway thereof, and in frontof the clouds A.

Having thus described my invention, its character and purpose, what I claim, and desire to secure by Letters Patent 0f the United States, is-
The design for a sign substantially as described, and as shown in the accompanying drawing.
