WILLIAM S. OBRIEN, OF SAN FRANCISCO, CALIFORNIA.
DESIGN FOR A SPOON-HANDLE, 800.
To aZZ whom it may concern.-
Be it known that 1, WILLIAM S. OBRIEN, a citizen of the United States, residing at San Francisco, in the county of San Francisco and State of California, have invented and produced a certain new and original Design for a Spoon-Handle, of which the following is a specification.
My design is for the handles of spoons and similar articles and the leading features thereof are illustrated in the accompanying drawings, in which Figure 1 is a plan view of the front or ob- Verse of a spoon the handle of which is provided with my design and Fig. 2 is a reverse view of the same.
The front or obverse face of the handle is ornamented with a chain 2 and the end thereof is formed into the shape of an anchor, 3. Over the anchor is placed the representation of a globe 4, upon which appears the Western Hemisphere. The reverse of the handle is ornamented as follows: Upon that part of the handle which is shaped to represent the globe and cross-bar of the archor there is a representation of the landing of Columbus as at 5. Upon that part of the handle, 6, which is between the end portion and the bowl, there is a view showing the ships of the fleet of Columbus at anchor. Near the place where the handle joins onto the bowl there is a representation of a globe, chart and a telescope, as at 7.
\Vhat I claim is- 1. In a design for the handle of spoons, the design for the obverse of the handle, substantially as set forth and shown.
2. In a design for the handle of spoons, the design for the reverse of the handle, substan tially as shown and described.
3. The design for the handle of spoons substantially as herein shown and described.
