ORREN M. SMITH, OF PHILADELPHIA, PENNSYLVANIA.
DESIGN FOR AN UMBRELLA-FERRULE.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 20,249, dated October 28, 1890. Application filed August 14, 1890. Serial No. BBZ OSB. Term of patent 14 years.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, ORREN M. SMITH,acitizen of the United States of America, residing at Philadelphia, in the county of Philadelphia and State of Pennsylvania, have invented a new and original Design for Ferrules; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawing, and to letters of reference marked thereon, which form a part of this specification.
-In the drawing the figure is a View of a ferrule showing my design.
The leading features of my design consist of a ferrule A, having the tip or point and a conical or cylindrical body, the surface of which is ornamented, so as to have irregular and indented portions in close proximity to each other to produce on the polished sur- :0 face a dead finish satin-like in appearance. The above finish may be set ofif by plain and smooth bands a a. The appearance of the article thus ornamented is highly pleasing, the effect being different from the crepe-like 25 appearance heretofore given to metal, in that it approximates in appearance the luster of satin.
I claim- The design for a ferrule, substantially as 30 herein shown and described.
