UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
FltlCDERltl t. CANNON, OF NE\\' HAVEN, CONNECTICUT.
DESIGN FOR A COACH-LAMP.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 19,751, dated April 8, 1890.
Application filed January 6, 1890. Serial No.336,075. Term of patent 7 years.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, FREDERIC U. CANNON, of. New Haven, in the county of New Haven and State of Connecticut, have invented a new Design for a Coach-Lamp, (Case A;) and I do hereby declare the following, when taken in connection with accompanying drawing and the letters of reference marked thereon, to be a full, clear, and exact description of the same, and which said drawing constitutes part of this specification, and represents a perspective \lCW of the lamp complete.
This invention relates to a design for the class of lamps used upon carriages and coaches, commonly called carriage-lamps, and particularly to that class in which the body is composed of four sides with a crown above and a tubular socket from the bottom, the glass panels being through two of the sides of the body, the design relating particularly to the configuration of the border sur rounding the said panels; and the invention consists of the shape, as shown in the accompanying illustration and particularly hereinafter described.
A represents the body of the lamp, which is ofthe usual four-sided form, havingaerown 1 upon its upper end and with a socket (1 extending from its lower end. The glass panels are upon two adjacent sides of the body, 1) representing one panel and E the other panel. The shape of the panel I) is round or circular, and it is surrounded by a border F, projecting from that side of the body and flaring from the edge of the panel outward, as clearly shown. The other glass panel E is in the form of a parallelogram or square, and is surrounded by a border G of similar flaring shape as that of the border F, but its sides and ends are parallel, respectively, with each other, and as shown in the accompanying illustration.
The essential feature of the design is the body representing panels 1) E upon two adjacent sides, the one panel 1) of circular shape and surrounded by a circular flaring border, the other panel as square and as surrounded by a flaring border, the border around the angles of the panel being rounded.
I claim- The design for coach-lamp, as herein illustrated and described.
FREDERIC C. CANNON.
