Description

UNITED STATES PATENT OEEICE.
THOMAS IV. MELLOR, OF.PIIILADELPHIA, PENNSYLVANIA, ASSIGNOR TO GIIJIIINDER 85 SONS, OF SAME PLACE.
DESIGN FOR GLASSWARE.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 19,209, dated July 16, 1889.
Application filed Tune 1, 1889. Serial No. 312,933, Term of patent 14 years.
.To all whom, it may concern:
Be it known that I, THOMAS W. MELLOR, a citizen of the United States, residing in Philadelphia and State ot' Pennsylvania, have invented a new and useful Design for the Orna- Inentation of Glassware, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description, due reference being had to the drawings which accompany and form a part of this specification, and in which similar letters denote similar parts.
My invention consists of a new and original design for the ornamentation ot' glassware, as described more fully hereinafter.
My design consists of a series of sections of cylinders, each of which is separated from the other by a line or cutin the glass, and the upper and lower portions of said cylindrical sections being cut away at an angle placed upon the glass object. This gives to the glass object a pillared or broken-column eiect.
In the drawings, Figure l represents aview of my design with the columns running diag- A represents the cylindrical sections, each of which is separated by the cut or line a d.
B and O are the portions of the cylindrical sections cnt away at an angle. As shown in the drawings, these cylindrical sections or broken columns may be constructed in lines up and down the object or in a series of diagonal lines across the obj ect. It is evident that the angle which these broken columns or cylindricalsections bear to the vessel itself maybe varied Without departing from my invention.
Having now fully described my invention, what I desire to claim and protect byLetters Patent is- A design for the ornamentation of glassware, consisting of a series of cylindrical sections separated from each other by lines, the upper and lower surfaces of said cylindrical sections being cut away at an angle, giving to the object'a pillared or broken-column effect, as herein described and shown.
In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand this 31st. day of May, 1889.
