Description

DESIGN.
P. A. GOPFIN. DESK ouaum.
No. 19,172. Patented June 25, 1889.
I M IWHI I UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
FRANCIS A. COFFIN, OF INDIANAPOLIS, INDIANA.
DESIGN FOR A DESK-CURTAIN.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 19,172, dated June 25, 1889.
Application filed January 24, 1889. Serial No. 297,442. Term of patent 7 years.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, FRANCIS A. COFFIN, of Indianapolis, county of Marion, and State of Indiana, have invented and produced a certain new and useful Design for Desk-Ourtains; and I do hereby declare that the followingis a full, clear, and exact description thereof, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, in which like letters refer to like parts.
My invention consists in a new andoriginal design for desk-curtains, and will be understood from the following description.
In the drawings, Figure 1 represents a front view of the curtain. Fig. 2 is a section on the dotted line, Fig. 1.
In detail, 8 and s are the slats of the curtain, molded on their front faces and ends and plain on the back, and b is the base, its upper end rounded, its front, back, and bottom plain, as shown, and somewhat widerand thicker than the other parts of the curtain. The face of the upper slat s in the series has an ogee mold, followed by a flat surface, and this in turn by a short beveled incline. Each second slat in the series is formed with a large ogee mold with a rounded thicker portion, and this projects some distance beyond the face of the other slat, and this succession is kept up throughout the series of slats that compose the curtain, and the outline of this as they appear in contrast with each other is shown in Fig. 1 and in the section in Fig. 2. The tops of the slats are rounded and their backs are fiat, as in ordinary curtains, my design relating chiefly to the face or fronts thereof, making those of adjacent ones of different configurations, so that when placed side by side monotony of appearance is avoided and a contrast of graceful outline is effected, producing harmony and beauty in the completed work.
Nothing is herein claimed as new for the shape of the base shown in the drawings, as any kind of a base may be used in connection with my design; but the one shown in the drawings is in common use for such purposes.
What I claim as my invention is the following:
A design for desk-curtains wherein the faces of the slats have different molded configurations, the backs having plain surfaces, substantially as shown and described.
In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand this 19th day of January, 1889.
FRANCIS A. COFFIN.
Witnesses:
