FLORA BARNETT, Oll NEW YORK, N. Y.
DESIGN FOR A CQVERliNG FOR TOILET- BOTTLES.
SPEGIPICATIQN forming part. of Design No. 17,003, dated November 310, 1886.
Application filed October 23,1886. Seriah Nbi.21fi',071. TGI'mlOfl patent at years.
To aZZ whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, FLORA BARNETT, acitii- Zen of the United States, residing at New York city, in the county of New York and State of NewYork, have invented and produced a new and original Design forthe Coverings of Toiletor Cologne Bottles, of which the following is a specification, reference being bad: tothe accompanying photograph, forming a part thereof.
Heretofore toiletior erfumery bottles have frequently been provided with a covering of some suitable fabric having impressed. paint? ed, or otherwise worked upon its surface various ornamental designs or patterns, to enhance the beauty of appearance of the article and to impart an aesthetic effect to the dressinglable or ether piece of furniture upon which the same may find a resting-place. To toiletbottles of this class or character my invention relates.
The leading features of the design consist, first, in a bottle having its body portion ornamented with overlapping portions in imitation of the petals or leaves of a flower, and, secondly, in a bottle having its mouth surrounded by a floral ornament in substantial representa tion of a poppy or rose.
In the photograph which accompanies this application is shown in elevation at toilet-bottle embodying the several featuresof my novel de- 51 n.
As will be seen, the body of the bottle is completely covered by floral portions or a, which partially overlap one another, after the fashion of the petals of a rose, and are preferably crimped or corrugated in more exact imitation of the leaves of a flower.
The neck of the bottle is ornamented by a ribbon orband, b, tied in atltnot or bow, c, and
lscrves as aline of demarkation between the.
embelliishniention the body of the bottleand that attthe mouth thereof, and thus assists in augmenting the general beautiful effect of the entire decoration.
The mouthl of the bottleis beautified by surrounding ornamentation substantially representing a rose orpoppy, d, the petals of which are likewise preferably crimped or embossed.
Attire base of the bottle is arranged a mat; but this may be omitted, if desired.
It will be seen that by my novel design a toiictbottle is produced with floral ornamentation at its body and at its mouth, and that the general eliect of the same is at once striking and beautiful.
\Vhat I claim, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
1. The design for the covering of the body ofa toilet-bottle herein shown and described, consisting of the overlapping petatlike portions a a.
2. The design for the covering of a toiletbottle herein shown and described, consisting of the overlapping petal-like portions ac and the floral ornament d.
3. The design for the covering of a toiletbottle herein shown and described, consisting of the overlapping petal-like portions a e, the floral ornament d, and the dividing-band b.
