DESIGN FOR A C ARRlAGE-STEP.

Be it known that 1, CHARLES A. BABOOCK, a citizen of the United States, residing at Buffalo, in the county ofErie and State of New 5 York, have invented and produced a new and original Design for Carriage-Steps, of which the following is a specification.

This design relates to the ornamentation of the upper surface of a carriage-step by means 10 ofornamental ribs; and it consists ofthe special features which will be hereinafter described and claimed, and which are represented in the accompanying drawings, consisting of two sheets, in which Figure 1 represents a plan View of a carriage-step embodying my new design. Fig. 2 is a similar view showing a slightlymodified form of my design.

Like letters of reference refer to like parts 20 in both figures.

A represents the plate of the carriage-step, made square or rectangular in form, and provided with a marginal rib, a.

B represents an annular row of circular or- 2 5 naments between two concentric circular ribs or rings, b 1).

0 represents four groups of parallel ribs upon the corner portions of the plate outside of the outer ring, I). The ribs in each group are parallel with the rib extending diagonally 30 from the corner of the plate to the ring 11'.

D represents a central ornament within the inner ring, I).

In the design represented in Fig. 1 the central ornament, D, is composed of a series of 5 pointed ornaments grouped radially around a common center.

In the modified design represented in Fig.

2 the central ornament, D, consists of lozengeshaped ornaments, each having two blunt or 0 concave corners.

I claim The design for a carriagesteoconsisting of 5 a central ornament, D, an annular row, B, of circular ornaments surrounding the same, and groups of ribs, 0, on the plate outside of said annular row of ornaments, substantially as shown and described.
