UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
HORACE D. SHERRILL. OF NEW YORK, N. Y.
DESIGN FOR A FINGER-RING.
To all whom it may concern Be it known that Lllomcs D. SHERRILL, a citizen of the UnitedStates, residing in the city, county, and State of New York, have invented and produced a new and original Design for Finger-Rings, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description.
Reference is to he had to the accompanying drawings, forming part of this specification,-in
which similar letters of reference indicate corresponding parts in both the figures.
Figure 1 is a front view of my newly-designed finger-ring, and Fig. 2 is an end view of the same.
The feature of my design consists in a gold letter or monogram, A, provided with a number of'diamonds, B, or other precious stones, which monogram is secured on a curved stone, 0, within the setting of a finger ring. The said stone 0 is curved in the same direction as the circle of the ring.
The letter maybe made of any desired style or shape, and maybeornamen ted, more or less, with precious stones, and the stone 0, on which theletteris secured, may haveany desired color; but preferably I use a jetblack BtODQ-JOI instance, onyx-upon which a gold letter with diamonds is secured.
The shanks of the ringmay be made or ornamented in any desired manner or style, as I 0 do not wish to limit myself to the style shown.
-The monogram may be made of any desired size, and may be provided with more or less precious stones.
Instead of making the monogram of gold, it 3 5 'may he made of silver or platinum, if desired.
1 am aware that it is not new to use a monogram on the flat surface of a ring-stone, or to inlay he metal in white and gold colors, or to inlay the panel with diamonds or other stones, to represent eggs; but
What I do claim is-- A design for the setting of a finger-ring, which consists of a curved stone or ground, a monogram ofdilii-rent color from the stone and mounted lheieon, and bright stones or diamonds arranged on the outer surface of the monogram, all together presenting the appearonce and aspect shown and described.
HORACE D.' SHERRILL.
