SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 13,677, dated February 27, 1883.

To all 'whom it 'may concern Be it known that I, WILLIAM (J. PEET, a 3 citizen of the United States,'residing at Jersey Uity,` county of Hudson, State of New Jersey, 5 have invented and produced a new and original Design for Letters or Alphabet, of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying photographic illustrations, forming part thereof, in which all the letters of my newly designed alphabet are shown clearly.

`The alphabet in its general appearance is suggestive of the characters employed in mediaeval times in the socalled illuminated books of that period, but conforms more nearly to the form of modern type, so that the letters are more readily recognized by the general observer. The heavy straight strokes, as a, of the letters are provided with beads b, projecting from their sides, and with recesses c at their ends, while the heavy carved strokes d have recesses e at their sidesiaud Vprojecting heads` fat their ends.
