UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
RICHARD BUTLER, OF NEW YORK, N. Y.
DESIGN FOR A COMB.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 12,540, dated October 25, 1881.
Application filed August 31, 1881. Term ofpntent7 years.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that. I, RICHARD BUTLER, of the city, county, and State of New York, have invented a new and original Design for (Jolnbs, of which the following is o. specification, reference being had to the accompanying drawing, forming part thereof.
In the drawing my design is represented by a side view of a comb.
The essential feature of the design is the circuler tablet or medallion a upon the sides of the back portion of the comb in the space formed by the curved back edge, b. The back edge, b, curves outward from the ends of the comb to the mid-length, so as to widen the space at the center. This line may be a single, donble,or irregular curve. The medallion gives a finish and ornamentation to the comb, and is applied alike on both sides. The medallion is embossed to represent the head ofa man in profile, and is to be applied to toilet, back, and round combs.
Having thus described my invention, I claim as new and desire to secn re by Design Patent- The design for combs herein shown and described, which consists of the curved edge I), forming a raised portion on the back, and the medallion or tablet a on the same.
