application iiled February 17, 1879.
[Terni of patent 7 years] To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, DoLrVnR S. SPAULD- ING, of Mansfield, ofthe county of Bristol, of the State of Massachusetts, have invented a new Design for Ornamental Chain-Links 5 and do hereby declare the same to be described in the following specification and represented in the accompanying drawings, of which- Figure l is a front elevation, and Fig. 2 an edge View, of my said design.
In the said figures the link is represented as a duplex one-that is, as composed of the rectangular and circular parts A and B, looped to gether by a band-loop, a, fixed to the back of the elongated part A, and extending through the part B, in manner as represented.
The design of each part A or B consists not only of an open frame, b, (which, in the part A,is rectangular, and in the part B a circular annulus,) but of its internal rope coil or coils c and surrounding border, consisting of a rope fillet, o, and open scallopin g d, all arranged and formed as shown.
The inner periphery of the annulus I usually provide with a series of small studs or projections, arranged at equal distances apart, and extending from it, as shown at f.
A series of the duplex links, interlinked as represented, are employed in making a neck lace or chain.
I claim- 1. The design for an ornamental duplex chain-link composed of the rectangular and circular frames and their surrounding borders and internal fillings or rope coils, as described and represented.
2. The design for the single link or member A, consisting ot' the rectangular frame and its coil-llings, and the border composed of the rope fillet and scalloping, essentially as set forth.
3. The design for the connection link or part B, consisting of the annulus, its coil lilling, and the border composed of the rope fillet and scalloping, all being substantially as represented.
