BRACELET.

This invention relates to a bracelet, choker or like article; and has for its object to provide a construction by which a picture may be removably mounted in a portion of the bracelet. I

A further object of the invention is to provide a construction having a plurality of links in one or more of which a plcturc may be removably mounted.

A. still further object of the invention is to provide a series of links some of which have a hingedly' connected back plate to support a picture in position to be observed through an opening in the top wall of the link with the hinge of the back plate also serving as a connecting means betweentwo adjoining linksof the chain.

\Vith these and other'objects in view the invention consists of certain novel features of construction as will be more fully described, and particularly pointed out'in the appended claims. I

It is found desirable in certain classes of jewelry such as bracelets or the like to provide a construction by which a picture, or different pictures, may be carried by the bracelet and removably supported whereby they may be changed at will; and in order to accomplish this result in a practical construction, I .have provided a series of links flexibly connected together, certain of the links being provided with an opening in their top wall and a removable back plate to support a picture in the frame to be viewed through the opening; and I have also utilized a connecting loop between adjacent links to support in a hinging fashion the back plate which may be swung to open position to change or mount the picture in theframe of the link; and the following referred to.

is a detailed description of the present embodiment of my invention showing one construction by which these advantageous results may be accomplished:

The gem carrying link comprises a bezel 12 with suitable bails 13 extending oppositely from its side walls with a gem 14 securely mounted in thebezel by rolling over the edge 15 thereof, as illustrated in Figure 5.

The picture carrying links each consists of a frame having a top wall 16 with an opening 17 therethrough and side walls 18 extending rearwardly from the top,plate and provided with oppositely extending bails 19 whichare suitably joined to the bails 13 011 the gem-carrying links 10 by, means of the connecting loops 20 and 21. The loop 21 is soldered as at 22 to a plate 23 for closing the frame link 11 and suitably supports a picture 24 in position therein.

.1 preferably employ a window 25 covering the opening in the top plate with the picture supported thereagainst by means of suitable packing 26 between the picture and the plate 23 the plate being snapped into posi-' tion and held by means-of a detent 27 extending inwardly from the inner edge of the side wall of the frame. The back plate 23 is joined to the connecting loop 21 by a small neck 28 which extends through a. notch 29 in one of the side walls and is in position to be concealed from the edge of the bracelet by being located in substantially the same plane with the bail 19 on the edge of the frame.

By securing the back plate to one of the connecting loops 21, I have provide a hinge mounting for the plate by which this plate maybe swung as illustrated in Figure 6 to open the frame 11 to remove or to mount a different picture 24 therein and yet by providing a construction in which the backplate substantially fits its frame and the back plate is held tightly therein by resiliency between the Walls 18 thereof.

At the ends of the chain suitable clasps 30"and 31 may be provided for attaching the ends together to encircle any part of the body for personal wear.

It will be understood that any suitable means may be used to swing the back plate relative to the frame to open position but in the simple construction herein-illustrated pressure may be exerted upon the window or through the opening 17 in the frame to snap the back plate outwardly over the detent 27 from between the resilient walls 18.

' I have described this invention more particularly as applied to a bracelet but by this. term bracelet I mean any encircling element as it is evident that this construe-,- tion may be used for a choker to extend about the neck or in any other desirable place.

The foregoing description is directed solely towards the construction illustrated, but I desire it to be understood that I reserve the privilege of resorting to all the mechanical changes to which the device is susceptible, the invention being defined and limited only by the terms of the appended claims.

I claim:

1. A bracelet chain comprising a series of links each having a frame with bails extending therefrom and a connecting loop for joining the bails of adj aeent links to flexiblyconnect said links together, certain of said and a back plate secured to one of said connectingloops to swing into a position to support said picture and means for securing said backplate in supporting position.

A bracelet chain link comprising a frame having a top wall Witlran opening provided therein and peripheral side walls, oppositely extending bails on the side walls for connecting the frames in a series with other links, a connecting loop surrounding one of said bails and of a size to also embrace the bail of .an adjoining unit of the chain, a back plate for said frame secured to said loop to swing with it about said bail to and from closing position of said frame for supporting a picture between the plate and the top wall of the frame, and means for releasably securing the plate in closed position.

3. A bracelet including a plurality of picture carrying links, means in said picture carrying links releasably securing pictures therein, said means comprising pivotal mountings for adjacent links.
