Description

DOCUMENT NUMEIER UNITED STATES PATENT FFICE.
MICHAEL I. WELLER AND GEORGE It. REPETTI, OF WASHINGTON, D. C.
DESIGN FOR CIGAR-BOXES.
Specification forming part of Design No. 10,970, dated December 17, 1878; application iiled November 30, 187 8.
, [Term of patent 7 years] To all whom 'it may concern:
Be it known that we, MICHAEL I. WELLER and GEORGE B. REPETTI, (a firm doing business under the naine of WELLER 8v REPETTI,) of Vashingtou, in the county of Washington and District of Columbia, have originated and invented a new and useful Design of a Box for Cigars; and we do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description thereof, reference being had to the accompanying drawing, forming a part oi' this specification.
Our design has for its object to furnish the trade with a peculiarly-shaped box for the purpose of exposing cigars and other merchandise in the show windows and cases, and for other purposes.
It presents a pleasing and striking appearance and is formed in the shape of a star, 'with a trapezoidal base.
.The letterA represents the body of the box, which is composed of a series of triangular radiating sections, a b c d c, and a trapezoidal section,j', which forms the base of the box. The upper part of the box, formed by the radiating sections a b c d c, forms, in cross-sections, an imperfect star, the lower projection 'or section being absent, the ends of triangular sections a b c d e naturally giving the proper contour to a portion of the star, and the lower section being formed by a representation of an angular section, similar to said sections a b c d c. This representation of a complete star is formed simply by making an ornamental border along the edges of the ends of the angular projections, and extending said border downwardly at a similar angle on the end of the trapezoidal section.
The box is provided with a cover, hinged to the base, and a ring is attached to projection a, for the purpose of suspending it, the trapezoidal base bein g for the purpose of standing the box when desired.
We claim as our invention- The design of a box, substantially as shown and described.
In testimony that we claim the foregoing as our own we affix our signatures in presence of two witnesses.
