A. T. WARREN..
TRIGK GIGAR.
APPLICATION FILED APB. 8, 1911.

j@ 9 f TTHNEYJ,
COLUMBIA FMNOGRAIVH C0., WASHINLITO OFFIC ALFRED T. WARREN, OF NEW YORK, N. Y.
TRICK-CIGAR.
To all 'whom 'it may concern:
Be it known that I, ALFRED (usually written FRED) T. VARREN, residing at New York city, in the county of New York and State of New York, and whose post-oliice address is No. 1553 Broadway, New York city, New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in TrickCigars, of which the following is a specification.
My invention relates to certain new and useful improvements in trick devices, and it more particularly has for its object to provide a trick cigar, or the like, in which the cigar may be made to appear as held in a holder and which may be blown out of the holder and restored to the holder, at the will of the operator.
In its generic nature, the invention includes a holder, a plurality of telescopic tubes mounted in the holder, the outer one of which is made to simulate a. partly burned cigar, or the like, the tubes being in communication with a hole in the holder so that the operator by blowing may extend the telescopic sections, and by sucking may telescope the same, to project or retract the cigar from or to the holder, as the case may be.
In its more subordinate nature, the invention also includes those novel details of construction, combination and arrangement of parts, all of which will be first fully described, and then be specifically pointed out in the appended claims, reference being had to the accompanying drawing, in which Figure 1, is a perspective view illustrating the invention in use, the parts being in the normal position with the cigar in the holder. Fig. 2, is a perspective view showing how the cigar may be projected out of the holder. Fig. 3, is an enlarged side elevation of the invention, the parts being telescoped to show t-he cigar as held in the holder. Fig. 4, is a side elevation of the saine, the parts being extended. Fig. 5, is a central vertical longitudinal section showing the position of the parts, as in Fig. 4. Fig. 6, is a central vertical longitudinal section showing the parts when in their normal position.
In the accompanying drawings, like numerals and letters of reference indicate like parts in all of the gures.
1 designates the holder, which may be of the usual type, and is provided with a pocket 2 into which the telescoping tubes 3, 4 and Specification of Letters Patent.

5 may project, the inner tube 3, being fastened at its end to the holder 1 by a suitable fastening medium, such as wax, cement, or the like, as shown at 6 in the drawing. The holder 1 has abore 7 to communicate with the interior of the tubes 3, 4, 5, the outer one of which 5, has its outer end closed by a plug 8 which is designed to represent the burning end or ash of the cigar in external appearance. The outer tube section 5 is covered on its exterior by a suitable covering 9 made to represent a cigar, or the like, so that the general appearance of the section 5 is that of a partly burned cigar, or the like. In order to prevent the telescoping sections from becoming disconnected from one another, some suitable means to limit their extension should be provided and to that end I provide a cord 10 secured at 11 to the front of the tube section 4 and at 12 to the holder 1, the front end of the cord 10 being secured to the section 5, as at 13, in any desired way, thus as the sections are projected, as shown in Figs. 2, 4 and 5, their movement will be limited to prevent the tube sections 3, 4 and 5 from becoming separated from one another. When the cigar 9 is sucked into the holder 1, thel co-rd 10 will lie loosely within the telescoping sections.
While I have specifically referred to the member 9 as a cigar, it is obvious that slight modifications in its external appearance may be made without departing from the spirit of the invention or the scope of the appended claims, and I desire it understood that other slight changes may be made without departing from the invention.
From the foregoing description taken in connection with the accompanying drawings, it is thought the complete construction, operation and advantages of my invention will be readily apparent to those skilled in the art to which the invention relates.
What I cla-im is 1. In a trick cigar comprising a series of telescoping tubes, and a cigar holder,
the outer tube constructed to represent a partly burned cigar, and the inner tube being connected to the inside of the exit end of the cigar holder, said end of the holder being of a sufficient diameter to inclose the series of tubes when nested or telescoped, and means for preventing the disconnection of the tubes.
2. In a trick Cigar comprising a series of telescoping tubes, and a cigar77 bolder, the outer tube constructed to represent a partly burned Cigar, and the inner tube being connected to the inside of the exit end of the cigar holder, said end of the holder beinfr oit a sullicient diameter to inclose the series of tubes when nested or telescoped7 ineans for preventing the disconnection of the tubes, said disconnecting ineans Comprising a cord Connecting said tubes together.
3. A. trick cigar comprising` a plurality of teleseopinggv tubes and a cigar holder having a pocket in one end, the inner one of said tubes having` one end secured in said pocket, a plug1 closing the outer end of the outer one of said tubes, and a coverinv on the outer one or' said tubes olf ay predetermined design, and ineans for oreventing` the disconnection of said tubes.
4. A trick cigar comprising` e series of telescoping tubes, and a cigar holder, the outer tube constructed to represent a partly burned cigar and the inner tube being Connected to the inside of the exit end of the cigar holder, said outer tube, when said tubes are nested7 appearing' as held in said holder, and ineens preventing` the disconnection of the tubes.
