Be it known that I, OWEN Y. Ro'rnN, a citizen of the United States, residing at Winnsboro, in the county of Wood and State of Texas, have invented new and useful Improvements in Portable and Foldable Supports for \Veighing-Scales, of which the following is a specification.

This invention relates to portable and foldable supports for weighing scales, the object of the invention being to provide a support of this character which can be readily folded into a compact package when not in use and which will include means operating when the support is in its set up position to hold the scales at any required height from the surface on which the device is supported.

In the drawing, forming a portion of this specification and in which like numerals of reference indicate similar parts in the several views :Figure l is a perspective view of my improved support. Fig. 2 is a vertical section therethrough on line 2-2 of Fig. l.

My improved scale support includes a head member 1 which may be of any suitable configuration found most desirable for the purpose intended. are pivoted, at 3, to the brackets 4 on the underside of the head, three of such legs being employed and each is formed or provided at its lower end with a pointed stay or anchoring foot 5 which is designed to be slightly embedded in the surface on which the device is supported so as to hold the device accurately in its adjusted position. The device can be supported at any height on the required adjustment of the legs 2 as will be Supporting legs 2- readily understood, so that the head 1 may be properly positioned from the ground or supporting surface.

The head 1 is provided with a central rectangular passage 6 in which is slidably fitted a scale hanger 7. This hanger is provided with a longitudinal series of passages 8 in which the pin 9 is interchangeably fitted so as to permit the scale to be adjusted vertically as the occasion may demand. The lower end of the scale hanger 7 is provided with a suitable scale supporting hook A. A retaining pin 9 is adapted to be extended through one of the passages above the head 1 and to rest on the head so as to hold the hanger 7 in its adjusted position. One of the legs 2 has a squared portion 10 on which is mounted a suitable book rest 11.

From the construction described it will be readily understood that the weighing scale when supported by the hanger 7 can be accurately adjusted vertically so as to be positioned in convenient reach of the operator.

I claim A scale support comprising a head, supporting legs therefor, the said head having an opening therein, a scale hanger slidably mounted in the opening and provided with a longitudinal series of passages, and a retaining pin extending through one of the passages and resting on the head to hold the hanger against movement in one direction.
