CAR-TICKET.
Specification of Letters Patent.
iatented July ii, i911.
Application filed May 12, 191i). Serial No. 560,885.
To all whom 'it may concern:
Be it known that I, OLIVIER AssnLIN, residing at 174 St. Andr street, in the city of Ottawa, Carleton county, Province of Ontario, Dominion of Canada, tradesman, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Oar-Tickets; and I do hereby de- Clare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description of the same.
The invention relates to improvements in car tickets, as described in the present specification and illustrated in the accompanying drawings that form part of the same.
The invention consists essentially in the novel arrangement of the sheets whereby the continuity of the perforations of score lines is broken at the corners of the tickets by openings through the sheet.
Ihe objects of the invention are to devise means of avoiding mutilation of tickets through imperfect score lines or rows of perforations, to facilitate the tearing olf of a ticket and generally to provide a convenient form of tickets in sheets for the public.
lin the drawings, Figure l is a plan view of a sheet of tickets having square holes at the corners thereof. Fig. 2 is a perspective view of a row of tickets in sheet form partially folded. Fig. 3 is a plan view of a row of tickets in sheet form having different shaped holes at the corners of the tickets.
Referring to the drawings, l are the tickets separated by the perforations 2 or score lines. The rows of tickets are here shown separated by the longitudinal perforations, or score line 3.
l are holes at the left hand corners of the tickets, in Fig. l shown as square holes and in Fig. 2 shown as having curved inner sides. It makes no difference as to the shape of the hole, though some shapes are preferable, however this description shall not specify any particular form of hole as preferable over the other.
In the use of this invention the sheet of tickets are torn apart, as is customary, into rows of tickets having the cross rows of perforations or score lines dividing the individual tickets. The corner of one ticket is slightly raised when they are in their folded state, and by still further raising the ticket from its adjoining ticket the nextscore line will begin to separate, as it must start at the corner formed by the hole 4, that hole practically giving the tear its start. In this way the tickets are readily separated and thc ditlicultiy usually encountered by passengers in separating tickets in the street car is entirely avoided. It will, of course, be understood that this ticket may be used for many other purposes besides cartickets, as it is equally applicable to meal tickets, milk tickets and all forms of trade, railway or park tickets.
that I claim as my invention is A sheet of suitable material divided by intersecting score lines into a plurality of tickets, each of said tickets having a hole punched therethrough in one corner, said hole being wholly within said ticket and two of the boundary lines thereof being formed by the crossing of said score lines, whereby when a strip of said tickets is folded, the detaching of individual tickets is facilitated, the hole in one ticket being abo-ve a solid part of the adjacent ticket in the folded position.
Signed at city of Ottawa, Province of Ontario, Canada, this 28th day of April, 1910.
OLIVIER ASSELIN.
