The Schedule referred to in these Letters Patent: and making part of the same To all whom it may concern:

My invention, as distinguished from the mode of manufacture heretofore adopted, consists in a metal ring, containing the caneand into which the tapering end of the handle is driven, so as to compress the canes firmly within said ring,`and then the ring is secured to the handle by nails or screws, and the cane turned over the ling, or doubled and spread and clamped, to form the broom. 1

Nails passing through 'the bands f and broom, as at 1T, and either clinched or riveted, serve to hold the parts rmly together.

What I claim as my improvement, in the construetion of brooms with folded libres, is-' The ring a,vnails or screws d, and tapering handle c, as shown, in combination with the clamp f, for conlining the folded fibres, as specified, and, in combination with the foregoing, the cap h, Vas and for the purposes described.`
