ADDE BLOOM, OF RCCKLANI D, MAINE, ASSIGNOR OF ONE-HALF T0 JOSEPH COHEN, OF
ROCKLAND, MAINE.
SHADE AND CURTAIN HOLDER.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, ADDE BLOOM, a citizen of the United States, residing at Rockland, in the county of Knox, State of Maine, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Shade and Curtain Holders; and I do hereby declare thefollowing to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.
This invention relates to shade and curtain-pole holders.
The object of the invention resides in the construction of shade and curtain-pole holders adapted to be used in pairs attached to window casings in spaced relation and in so constructing said holders that they may be adjusted to support different lengths of shade and curtain-poles after they have been fixedly attached to the window casing.
Another object of the invention is the construction of a holder of the character described which will be simple in construction, eflicient in use and comparatively inexpensive to install.
With the above and other objects in view the invention consists in the details of construction and arrangement and combination of parts as will be hereinafter more fully described and particularly pointed out in the appended claims.
In describing the invention in detail reference will be had to the accompanying drawings wherein like characters of reference denote corresponding parts in the several views and in which;
Figure 1 is a front elevation of a fragment of a window casing having a pair of holders constructed in accordance with the invention secured thereto; Fig. 2, a plan view of what is shown in Fig. 1; Fig. 3, a detail perspective view of the bracket of the holder; Fig. 4, a rear view of the sliding plate which carries the shade roller and curtain-pole supporting devices; Fig. 5 is a section on the line 55 of Fig. 1, and Fig. 6, a detail perspective view of the sliding plate which carries the shade roller and curtain pole supporting devices.
Referring to the drawings, A indicates generally the bracket of the holder which comprises a central plate 10 and rearwardly extending legs 11 and 12 which are adapted to be secured to a window casing whereby Specification of Letters Patent.

influence of the spring 26.
Patented June 13, 1911.
Serial No. 557,525.
the central plate 10 is supported in spaced relation with respect to said casing. Extending longitudinally through the Plate 10 is a slot '14: and a rack 15 formed on the plate 10 projects in saidslot 14. The longitudinal edges of the plat-e 10 are each bent upon the plate to form grooves 16 and 17.
Slidingly mounted in the grooves 16 and 17 is a plate 18, one end of which is bent at right angles to the portion disposed in the grooves 16 and 17 and constitutes a shade roller supporting member 19. Secured to and projecting from the outer face of the plate 18 and in spaced relation to the shade supporting member 19 is a curtain-pole supporting member 20, the free end of which is bent U-shaped to form a seat for one end of a curtain pole.
Formed in the plate 18 is a vertical slot 21 and projecting therethrough is the reduced end 22 of a locking lever 23. Said reduced end 22 of the locking lever 23 projects through the slot 14; and has mounted thereon beyond the rear face of the bracket.
A a stop 24 which prevents the detachment of the locking lever from its position in the slots 14 and 21. the locking lever is provided with a notch 25 which receives a spring 26 carried by the plate 18; said spring being so arranged and positioned that it constantly tends to force the reduced end 22 of the locking lever into engagement with the rack 15 and thus lock the plate 18 against sliding movement with respect to the bracket A. However, should it be desired to effect a sliding movement of the plate 18 in order to obtain a desired adjustment it is only necessary to lift the outer end of the locking lever upwardly which will force the reduced end 22 thereof out of engagement with the rack 15 against the WVhen this is done the plate 18 may be slidingly adjusted with respect to the bracket A at will.
What is claimed is:
1. A shade and curtain-pole holder comprising a bracket provided with a slot ex tending longitudinally thereof, a rack on the bracket projecting into said slot, a plate slidably mounted in said bracket, means for supporting a shade roller and a curtain-pole carried by said plate, a locking lever swingingly mounted on said plate and havin one end projecting through the slot of the bracket, and means constantly tending to The reduced end 22 of i force said end of the lever into engagement with the rack to lock the plate against sliding movement With respect to the bracket.
2. A shade and curtain-pole holder comprising a bracket provided With a slot extending longitudinally thereof, a rack on carried by the plate and engaging said proj ecting end of the locking lever to force same into engagement With the rack to lock the 15 plate against sliding movement With respect to the bracket.
In testimony whereof, I aflix my signature, in presence of two Witnesses.
ADDE BLOOM.
