Specication of Letters Patent.
Patented May 16, 1911.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, HENRY Yon, a citizen of the United States of America, residing at Detroit, in the county of l/Vayne and State of Michigan, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Sash-Centers, of which the following is a specification, ref erence being had therein to the accompanying drawings.
The invention relates to sash centers particularly designed for use in swinging window construction, and the invention consists in the construction as hereinafter set forth.
In the drawings,-Figure l is a perspective view of the two members of the sash center detached; Fig. 2 is a cross section through the members engaged and secured to the sash and frame respectively; Fig. 3 is a section on line Fig. 2.
A is one member of the sash center which is provided with a circular disk shaped base B and a central pintle C preferably integral therewith.
D is a coperating member which is of similar form but is provided with a laterally extending peripheral flange E and a central hub F which is apertured at G to receive the pintle C. The member D is further provided with an entrance slot I-I for the pintle C which extends into the aperture G of the hub.
To hold the members A and D normally in concentric relation to each other, the former is provided with a project-ing lug which lits within the flange E. As preferably constructed a pair of lugs I and I are arranged upon diametrically opposite sides of the disk B and each lug is fashioned to have one end ft within the flange E and the other end to extend adjacent to the hub G. The lugs are restricted in width so as to easily enter the slot H when in alinement therewith, and a very slight turning of the centers will cause the ends of the lugs to engage with the flange or hub so as to hold the members in concentric relation.
The members A and D may be secured respectively to the sash and frame of the window by screws which engage countersunk apertures J in the disks. These apertures in the member A are preferably located in the center of the lugs I and I.
One of the advantages of the construction is that the centers are held in engagement with each other for the greater part of the angular adjustment of the window, thereby avoiding danger of accidental disengage ment. l
What I claim as my invention is:
l. A sash center, comprising a pair of cooperating members, one of said members being provided with a central pintle and t-he other with an apertured hub for receiving said pintle and a concentric surrounding annular flange, a lug on the first mentioned member extending between the flange and hub of the cooperating member and engageable therewith through anventrance slot in the latter member, said pintle being engagealble with said hub through said entrance s ot.
2. A sash center, comprising a pair of cooperating members, one being provided with a central pintle and the other with a hub apertured to receive said pintle and a surrounding concentric annular flange., a pair of lugs on diametrically opposite sides of the first mentioned member adapted to lit between the hub and flange of the cooperating member, said coperating member being provided with an entrance slot for said lugs and said pintle.

A sash center, comprising a pair of cooperating members, one being provided with a central pintle and the other with an apertured hub and a surrounding concentric annular iiange, a pair of lugs on diametrically opposite sides of the rst mentioned member adapted to fit between the hub and flange of the coperating member, said cooperating member being provided with an entrance slot for said lugs and pintle into the aperture in said hub, and a slot through the opposite side of said hub for the passage of one of said lugs.
