Myinvention relates to oted windows.
The object et my invention is to provide novel means tor hanging' or pivotinafwin dow sash. so' constructed `as to permit the window to bei readily' tilrned ttorv opening4 and vclosingand at the same time so constructed as'to eliminate any tendency `tor the relatively moving-5 parts ot the pivoting` means 'toi come apart `from repeated relative rotation. By virture of my invention, a pivot is provided the movable member ot which is so secured to the tixed member as to eliminate any tendency toward separation ot the meinbers. irrespective of the frequency with which the window is swung on its pivots.
Further, by virtue ot my invention1 the window when closed will be tight and draughts will be eliminated.
Having now indicated in a general way the nature, purposes and advantages of my invention, l will now proceed to a detailed description of a preferred embodiment thereof, with reference to the accompanying' drawings, in which Fig. l is a tace vicw ot a shoe and sash pivoted thereto. constructed in accordance with in v invention.

The pivot members c and i/ are secured to each other by means of a pin z' andscrew i'. The pin z' is tapped 'tor the reception oit screw Z, and is provided with a` head j which entq'z'iges the inner face of the iiange of trunnion yt', and is also provided with a short key movable through key seat 77. The key extends from the one end of the pin ef to a point adjacent to the head y'. 'there being a space between the end et the key and the head I7' in which the flange of member f is adapted to rotate.
Secured to the shoe o and sash are strips fm., m, each having an inner overhang flange 0 and an outer bead n. The flanges o on the shoe t and sash b are arranged to be seated as shown in Fig, l to form throughout the length of the strips a weather tight joint between the shoe and sash. If desired, a packing, such as felt, may be positioned in the space y) between the flanges 0 of the strips m.
In assembling, the pin i is inserted through opening g in member y, the key 7c being passed entirely through key way It. The pin c' is then rotated a substantial distance to move the key k out of register with the key way h. rlhe members m and y may then be fastened to the shoes a and sash L, respectively, the shoes with their members w positioned on members y, and when positioning those members, the keys 7c on pins e' are inserted in the key seats e in the member w. The screws Z are then positioned to jam the ends of the pins i against the bottoms of the counter-bores in the sides of the shoes a adjacent the sides of the sash, and when the pins are so secured the members and 3/ will be held against substantial movement along the axis of the swinging sash. The connected shoes and sash can then readily be positioned in the frame.
Having now fully described my invention, what l claim and desire to protect by Letters Patent is:
lA ln a window structure comprising a sash and a shoe associated therewith, means 'for pivotally connecting said shoe and sash comprising a pair of pivot members, one
mounted on the shoe and the other on the sash, the pivot member connected to the shoe having a flanged hollow boss seated in a recess in the shoe, the pivot member on the sash having a flanged hollow trunnion journalled in the hollow boss of the pivot member on the shoe, a fastening member Jfor securing the pivot members to each other against movement along the axis of the members and extending through the flanges of the hollow trunnion and the hollow boss, and means for securing the 'fastening member to the shoe.
2. In a window structure comprising a sash and a shoe associated therewith, means for pivotally connecting said shoe and sash comprising a pair of pivot members one connected on the shoe and the other on the sash, the pivot member on the shoe having an internally flanged hollow boss, there being a key-seat in said flange, the pivot member on the sash having an internally flanged hollow boss seated in the boss in the pivot member on the shoe and in which it is arranged to rotate, a pinextending through the flanges on the bosses having a head within the inner boss arranged to be engaged by the flange on the inner boss, a key on said pin seated in the key seat, and a screw for securing the pin to the shoe.
