Be it known that I, Gus'rar A. MALMonnn, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of Aitkin, in the county of Aitkin and State of Minnesota, have invented a new and Improved Milking-Stool, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description.

This invention relates to a new and improved milking stool, of a type adapted to be readily manipulated at the side of the animal to be milked.

An object of this invention is to provide a device which will be extremely simple in construction, strong, durable, readily adjustable, and with few corners and crevices to harbor dirt and dust, so that it will be perfectly sanitary.

A further object of this invention is to provide a device in which a milkers seat and a pail-rest are each adjustably connected to a frame, so as to have a differential adjustment relative to each other, whereby the most comfortable position for the milker may be readily obtained.

These and further objects, together with the construction and combination of parts, will be more fully described hereinafter and particularly set forth in the claims.

Reference is to be had to the accompanying drawings forming a part of this specification, in which similar characters of reference indicate corresponding parts in both views, and in which- Figure 1 is a perspective view; and Fig. 2 is a view in side elevation, partly in section to show the connection of the elements.

Referring more particularly to the separate parts of the device, 1 indicates a frame which, while it may be of any suitable struc 'ture and material, preferably consists of a metallic member, all portions of which are integral one with the other.

Considering the details of the frame 1, it includes a horizontallyextending run or portion 2, which forms a seat-support, and which is bifurcated at one end to form downwardly extending legs 3, which are integral with the portion 2. The opposite end of the portion 2 is continued by a drop 4, eX- tending from which, there is provided a similar horizontal run or portion 5, which extends parallel to the run or portion 2,but at the lower level, so as to form a support for a milk-pail rest. wardly therefrom a leg 6. It is thus seen that the frame 1 is provided with three legs, which form a tri-point support therefor, making a very stable structure.

The frame 1 may be considered to comprise a rod bent at two points to form upper and lower steps at the portions 2 and 5, and which is provided at one end with an extension, forming the leg 6, and at the opposite end with a bifurcation or plurality of extensions, forming the legs 3. Each of these legs may be provided with rollers 7, rotatably supported in any well known man ner, as by means of pins 8 in bifurcations formed in the lower ends of the legs 3 and 6.

Adjustably supported on the portion 2, there is provided a seat 9, on which the milker sits during the milking operation. This adjustable seat may be of any suitable character, but is shown as comprising a top 10 and a pedestal 11, which latter is preferably screw-threaded so as to engage a screw-threaded opening 12 in the portion 2 and thereby be capable of adjustment relative thereto. Similarly, adjustably supported in the portion 5, in front of and below the seat 9, there is provided a milk-pail rest 13, which in this case comprises a plate 14 and a pedestal 15, which is screw-threaded so as to adjustably engage a screwthreaded opening 16 in the portion 5. It will thus be seen that the milk-pail rest is adjustable relative to the frame 1, and the seat 9 is also adjustable relative to the frame 1, so that the rest 13 and the seat 9 have a differential adjustment relative to each other, whereby any relative position of these two members can be obtained, so that the most comfortable adjustment for the operator can be obtained. The rollers 7 permit the device to be readily adjusted on the floor alongside of the animal to be milked.

lVhile I have shown one embodiment of my invention, I do not wish to be limited to the specific details thereof, but desire to be protected in various changes, modifications and alterations which may come within the scope of the appended claims.

Having thus described my invention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent 1. The combination with an integral frame, comprising an upper step, a lower step, and a plurality of legs extending downwardly from said steps, of a seat adjustably mounted in said upper step, and *a milk-pail rest adjustably mounted in said lower step.

2. The combination with an integral frame, comprising an upper step, a lower step, and a plurality of legs extending downwardly from said steps, of a seat adjustably mounted in said upper step, a milk-pail rest adjustably mounted in said lower step, and rollers rotatably supported on the lower ends of said legs.

3. The combination with a frame, comprising a rod bent intermediate its ends at two points, to form a plurality of steps, and being bent at one end to form a leg, and bifurcated and bent at the opposite end to form two other legs, of a seat adjustably mounted on one of said steps, and a pailrest adjustably mounted on another of said steps.
