To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, HARRY T. KINGSBURY, a citizen of the United States, residing at Keene, in the county of Cheshire, State of New Hampshire, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Wheeled Toys, of which the following is a description, reference being had to the accompanying drawing and to the letters and figures of reference marked thereon.

My invention relates to an im rovement in toys, and especially to a whee ed toy in semblance of a city transfer wagon.

The invention consists in the construction of the parts of the toy all as hereinafter described and referred to in the appended claims.

The invention is illustrated in the accompanying drawing, in which,

Figure 1 is a side elevation of a toy con structed in accordance with my invention; Fig. 2 is a top plan view; Fi 3 is a rear end View; Fig. 4: is a front en view of the wagon; Fig. 5 is a detail section showing the manner of securing the side and bottom blank to the upright front sides of the wagon; and Fig. 6 is a detail View of the side braces. Figs. 7 and 8 are detail views partly in section, showing the manner of applying the top to the stanchions.

In these drawings, the upright forward sides A, back piece B and side pieces G for the dash or foot board, are formed of a single sheet of metal. The bottom D, dash E and rearwardly extending sides F, are also formed of a single sheet of metal, the bent up side pieces I thereof having formed thereon ears a, engaging openings in the back B, and having openings engaged by ears 2) on the side pieces A.

The top G of the forward portion of the wagon, is formed of a singleblank, and has openings at the rear engaged b ears 0, c, on the back plate B, and openings at the front engaged by ears (2, cl, on the side pieces A. The bottom blank has also on the dash board E, openings engaged by ears 6 on the foot board side portions C. The top H of the rear portion of the wagon is made of a single piece of metal, and at its forward end has ears 7" engaging openings in the back plate B.

I represent side braces or supports, which pass through openings in the bent over edges of the side pieces F, and the top H, and at their lowerends have cars it engaging openings in said side pieces. At their upper end they have openings through which passes a Wire railing J, having a loop 2' passing through an opening in the top H at the rear, and the front ends of'the wire pass through openings in the back plate B. A rear truck K is provided for the wagon, and a front truck L is detachably secured to the front of the wagon, and to this front truck are secured the pole, whilfle tree and the figures M. These side braces or stanchions I are notched, as shown at 7', to receive the sides of the openings or slots in the top H. When the top is applied, the upwardly curved portion thereof is sprung, and the openings placed over the tops of the stanchions; when the pressure is removed, the springing back of the curved portion brings the edge of the openings firmly into the notches y. This is shown in Figs. 7 and 8. Also the loop 11 in the wire railing acts as a support or brace, and locks the wire in place, and the springiness of the wire and its arrangement exerts an outward pressure on the stanchions, and insures proper engagement of the notches j with the top piece.

Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is

1. A toy wagon having its bottom, dash board, and side pieces formed of a single blank and a portion arranged in front of said side pieces having upright sides and a back plate formed of another single blank, said two blanks having inter-engaging ears and grooves.

2. A toy wagon having its bottom, dash board, and side pieces formed of a single blank, and a portion arranged in front of said side pieces having upright sides and a back plate of another single blank, said two blanks having inter-engaging cars and grooves, and a top plate having ears engaging openings in said back plate and stanchions supporting said top plate.

3. In a toy wagon, supporting stanchions each having a notch in one end near the top, a blank having slots through which the stanchions pass, said slots being of such length that when sprung into engagement with the notches of the stanchions, the blank is held securely.

4. In a toy wagon, supporting stanchions each having a notch in one edge and an opening located close to the notch, a top section having notches or slots through which the stanchions pass, and a U-shaped Wire which passes through the openings in the stanehions to engage and retain the blank.

5. A toy Wagon having an upright for- Ward portion and a top blank, a U-shaped Wire rail and stanchions each having an opening through Which the Wire rail passes, the forward ends of the Wire rail engaging the upright portion of the Wagon, and the rear portion of the Wire rail'having a loop 10 engaging an opening in the top portion of the Wagon.
