To all 'whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, WILLIAM JOHN CRAIG, a citizen of the United States, residing at Belvidere, in the county oi'v Boone and State of Illinois, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Kites, of which the following is a specification.
The object of this invention is to provide means for holding the frame of the kite extended.
In the accompanying drawings is shown a perspective view of my improved kite.
The kite in the main is of an old construction and comprises the corner strips l to which are connected the two bands 2 and 8. This portion of the kite is foldable into a roll so that it will occupy little space. Openings 4 are formed through the bands, one adjacent to each corner strip and about midway of the width of the bands. To each corner strip, and to each end thereof is secured a slack string 5 and located on the outside of the bands 2 and 3. Four brace bars 6 are employed to hold the bands 2 and 3 extended. These brace bars 6 have each end formed with a slot 7, and the ends of these bars project through the openings 4 in the bands 2 and 3 and receive a string 5 in each slot. Each brace bar extends diagonally across the bands when the bands are extended as shown in the drawing. The four brace bars hold the two bands extended in the form of rectangular cells. The line 8 is secured to two of the corner strips l.
By removing the brace bars the kite can be rolled for shipment through the mail, and is of light construction.

5. A box kite comprising two bands, corner strips connecting the bands and holding them separated, loops connected to the corner strips and located outside of the bands, and brace bars extending through the bands and engaging the loops, the bands when extended form rectangular cells.
