Specication of Letters Patent.
Application led November 8, 1909. Serial No. 526,919.
My invention relates to 'improvements in l electricheaters and sterilizers. The obj ct of my invention is to provide adevice or heating and sterilizing fluid, such as waterLby 'means of electricity which requires a minimum current for such purpose, wlierein'elements are used which are non-destructible by electric action, in which when the device is removed from water no further'consumption of current occurs, and
which device can be handled at all times when. in use without injury to the hands,thef
said device being particularly advantageous for'sterilizing and precipitating -the foreign elements in the water.-
My improved device consists in the construction, arrangement and combination of parts shown in the accompanying drawings,
described in the following specification and pointed out in the appended claims.
Referring to the accompanying drawings which illustrate my invention, Figure l is a sectionalmview of my said device. Fig. 2 1s a side view of the same. Fig. 3 shows a sectional plan View and also a central longitudinal sectionalview of the carbon disks A and Bhereinafter described, and Fig. 4 re resents 4a sectional plan view of the porce ain ring C hereinafter mentioned and also a central longitudinal sectional view of the same.

To operate the device shown in Fig. 1,' it is set in a vessel containing water, the same entering perforations M in the cylinder L and Ithence passing through top and bottom channels and the chambers N. The warm water and steam thereupon rising, releases check valve G and allowscold water in the bottom of the cylinder L to ascendinto chambers N', repeating the said operation of heating, a circulation being effected by cold water rising from the bottom, the hot water being displaced.

2. ln a device of the character described the combination of a vessel having top and bottoni openings, a handle for said vessel having a longitudinal passage extending therethrough, a cup-shaped frame havinga bottom opening provided With a Valve centrally supported in said frame, a plurality of electrodes of opposite polarity having central openingsin alinement with said bottoni opening` alternately spaced therein, and current conducting means leading through said handle and to said elements respectively.
