To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, CHARLES WILLIAM SPRINGFORD, of the city of Toronto, in the county of York, in the Province of Ontario, Canada, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Ironing-Boards, of which the following is the specification.

My invention relates to improvements in ironing boards and the object of the invention is to devise a board, which may be used both as a sleeve and skirt board and which may be adjusted so as to be secured to any height of table or ledge and it consists essentially of a skirt board provided with a longitudinal notch in its broad end, a sleeve board the broad end of which extends through the notch of the skirt board in an inclined direction and having grooves in each side thereof in proximity to the broad end, a ratchet rack secured to the face of the sleeve boa-rd next to the skirt board and designed to engage with the inner end of the notch of the skirt board and depending hangers provided with pins extending inwardly and engaging with the grooves of the sleeve board as hereinafter more particularly described.

Fig. 3, is an enlarged perspective view of the ironing board partially broken away and in section to exhibit the construction thereof. Fig. '4, is a front elevation of the sleeve board. Fig. 5, is an enlarged sectional detail of the broad end yof the sleeve board and skirt board.

In the drawings like letters of reference indicate corresponding parts in each figure.

A is a table provided with the usual ledge A.

B is the skirt board provided with a notch B in its broad end.

C is the sleeve board which extends through the notch B of the skirt boa-rd and is provided with side grooves C and a ratchet rack C2.

C3 is a bracket provided with depending hangers secured to the skirt board in proximity to the notch B. The hangers are provided with inwardly extending pins C4 engaging with longitudinal grooves C of the sleeve board.

E, F and Gr are pads of rubber or other suitable material designed to prevent the board when gripping the ledge of the table from marring the surface of the table.

It will be readily seen that when I desire to use my device as shown in l as a sleeve board as shown in Fig. 2, all that it is necessary to do is to turn the board upside down, so that the broad end of the sleeve board engages the under surface of the ledge of the table and the broad end of the skirt board engages the upper surface of the ledge of the table.

To adjust the board to suit different heights of table all that it is necessary to do is to slide the skirt board longitudinally of the sleeve board and the pins C4 of the grooves C,so that the edge of the notch B engages with another of the series of teeth of the rack C2.

What I claim as my invention is:
