and durable in coni scribed and particularly pointed out in the i 1 of-paper and extends the entire lengt-h of a ppcnded claim.
ln the accompanying drawings, Figure 1 1s a side view of a broom having a handle constructed in accordance with -the invention. parts of the outer covering of thehundle being removed'to disclose the structure oi the inner portion: Fig. 2 is 'an enlargedlongitudinal sectional view of the same; Fig. 3 is a cross sectional view of a handle showing one form of the brace employed therein to strengthen the same; Fig. A is a similar view brace; and Fig. 5 -is a similar view showing still another form of brace.' Referring more particularly to the drawings, l .denotes the handle which is -formed of a hollow ortu'blar bodyportion 2 constructed of paper, and preferably formed.

ably given a coating ofV silicate or paint or othcn coating preparation whereby the same is rendered more durable. Over the spirally wound body portion2 isplaced an outer tube or cover 7' which is the body portion. .The outer end of the covering tube 7 is'prefcrably closed by a button or plug 8 formed, of wood or other; suitable material. said button bavinfv a depending lug 9 which contacts with he inner tubular lining 3 tosccur'e the button in lposition on the end of the covering 7. The handle 'when thus constructed is adapted to be secured to the broomhead in any suitable manner. thus providing a light, strong and' durable broom handle.
Froni the foregoing description, taken in connection with the accompanying' drawings. the construction .and invention will be readily 'u derstood'without requiring a more Iextended explanation. Having thus described and ascertained and rigidity there; to, andat the same time providing a light.v I
