FIREARM.
Specication of Letters Patent.
Patented Feb. 2S, 1911.
Application led ctober 31, 1910. Serial No. 589,942.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, ALoIs ToMIscHKA, subject of the Emperor of Austria-Hungary, residing at Mdling, near Vienna, Austria- Hungary, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Fire-Arms, of which the followingis a specification.
It is already known to connect the barrel of fire arms with the action body by means of a dove-tail and to secure the barrel in its position by special connection means.
According to the present invention however all further connecting devices are rendered superfluous by fitting the barrel from the rear of the re arm in an appropriately grooved forwardly closed portion of the stock or action body by means of va special lug and holding it from moving beyond its extreme forward position by means of the hook-shaped end of this lug. A barrel arrangement of this kind is shown by way of erample on a self-loading pistol in the accompanying drawing vin which:
Figure l illustrates the pistol in side elevation. and partial section, after firing, Fig. 2 the manner of fitting the barrel in the action body and Fig. 3 shows the pistol in plan view on a reduced scale with the breech closing block retracted.
The barrel b which during firing remains stationary is fitted by means of a projection or lug c in an appropriately grooved forwardly closed portion dof the action body e and is held from being moved forward beyond its eXtreme forward position by the hookshaped end c on the projection c` without the use of additional connecting devices.
Upon disassembling the fire arm for the purpose of cleaning, the barrel b' is slid back until its projection c is free from the groove of the action body el.
Claims: l
l. A lire-arm comprising a body portion having a groove closed at its forward end and a barrel having a single projection conforming to said groove, said projection having a hook-shaped rear end extending below the projection and adapted to abut against a lixed part of the body in front of said end when the parts are in position for firing, for the purpose specified.
2. A tire-arm comprising a body portion having a longitudinal groove closed at its forward end and a barrel having a longitudinal projection on its under side conforming to and adapted to slide in the groove and abut against the closed end 0f the latter when the parts are in position for firing, said projection having a hook-.shaped rear end portion extending below the projection adapted to engage a fixedpart of the body portion in front of said end to prevent the barrel from moving beyond its extreme forwardposition. l
In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand in presence of two subscribing witnesses. 4
