IMPROVED SELF-'EN'ILATING SAFETY-CAN FOR FILLING .AND DISCHARG-ING- 'HYDROCARBQN-APPARATUS.

The invention, in the construction of my can, consists in the arrangement of a tube therewith, in such manner that one ot' its ends will be iu direct communication with the opening through which the vessel is filled with the tluid, while its other end is in direct `communication with the, opening through which the tlnid is discharged ii'om the vessel; that is to say, the openings ot' said tube maintain relatively such a position with respect to the openings of the can, as that the'iiuid passing into or outot' the vessel, shall be greatly liastened in its passage, by reason of 'the current of air and a portion ot' the fluid passing into the vessel, or'therefrom, through the tube, whereby I am enabled to lill the vessel from an air-tight reservoir, and distribute thei'luidto another .air-tight reservoir, thus producing a circulation, and without any communication whatever with the atmosphere outside of the vessel.
In the accompanying drawings- A represents the safety Ventilating-vessel, made of tin and zinc combined, for the purpose of preventing oxidization.
A single tube, B, is connected to the vessel, the upper end of which is contiguous to and in direct communication with the opening through which the can is tlled, while its lower end occupies a'position in direct communication with the opening through which the luid isdischarged from thevessel.
The ends of the ,tube projecting directly into the' ingress and egress-openings ofthe vessel, the eiiect of this arrangement is to produce a perfect circulation of the `air and tluid from into and through the air-tight vessel or vessels, which is accomplished in a much less time than it'can be done without the tube, and with perfect safety to health, life, and property. f
