To all whom it may concern.
Be it known that I, Wanna; VERNON, a
citizen of the United States, residing at Mount Vernon, in-the county of Knox and State of Ohio, have invented certain new and usefullmprovements in Combined Mop- Wringers and Scrub-Brush Holders, of
which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to combined mop wringers and scrub brush holders, and one of the principal objects of the same is to provide simple and eflicient means for deframe 'and extended to a hand wringing device connected to the handle of the mop.
These and other objects may be attained by means of the construction illustrated in the accompanying drawing, in which Figure 1 is a side elevation of a mop head and scrub brush holder made in accordance with my invention, the mo cloth being removed therefrom. is a top plan view of the mop cloth wringer detached from the handle of the mop.
Referring to the drawing the numeral 1 designates a yoke provided with a socket 2 designed to be connected by means of a suitable bolt 3 to a handle 4:. The yoke 1- is provided with forwardly extending parallel arms 5 having inwardly projecting perforated bosses 6'. Pivotally mounted in the bosses 6 is the brush holder comprisinga rectangular frame having cross bars 7 and 8', connected by end bars 9. Spaced from the cross bar 8 is a holding bar 10 provided with downwardly extending lugs 11'. Pivoted upon alug extending from the bar 7 is a clamping leve'r provided with an eccentric head 12 and anextending handle 13. This lever is pivoted upon a screw 14. A scrub brush 15 is detachably clamped against the lugs 11 and by means of the head 12 of the lever. A mop cloth 16, preferably in' the form of an-vendless web, is passed around the cross bar 8 and'extended up the handle to be connected to the hand wringing device.
The wringer comprises a clamp member 17 formed of resilient metal and provided with an eye 18 through which the handle 4 extends. -A bearing eye 19 is formed upon the opposite end of the clampmember and pivotally mounted in this eye member is the wringer element comprising a loop 20 through which the mop cloth 16 extends. Projecting from the loop 20 is a shank pivotally mounted in the eye 19 and at the end of the shank ahand wheel or operating lever 21 is secured by means of a pin 22. The hand wheel 21 is provided with radial handles 23 by means of which the loop 20 is rotated to wring the mop 16. For holdmg the clamp inadjusted positionupon the handle 4 a screw 24 extends through the clamp member 17.
From the foregoing it will be obvious that the scrub brush 15 maybe readily disconnected from the pivoted frame and that the mop .eloth extends upon the opposite side of the pivoted frame from the brush and thus does not interfere with the action of the brush in any way. After the mop is used the cloth'may be wrung at any time by turning the hand Wheel 21 without soiling the handsof the operator. The mo wringer may be readily applied to any ordinary mop handle Without alteration of the structure of the mop.
My invention is simple in construction, can be manufactured at low cost, is strong durable and efiicient for its purpose and is easily operated.
Having thus fully described the invention what is claimed as new'is:
A rectangular mop and brushholding frame having a bar spaced from one of its longitudinal sides, said .bar andsaid frame forming a loopadapted to hold one end of a mop cloth, lugs on said bar on one face of said frame, means on the frame to clamp a brush. against said lugs, a yoke within which said frame is pivotally hung,- a handle fixed .to the yoke, and means on the handle for holding the other end of the mop cloth across the other face of the frame, whereby either mop or brushmay be used upon twisting the handle to place the mop or brush against the floor.
