Specification of Letters Patent.
Application filed August 12, 1910. Serial No. 576,895..
To all whom it may concern;
Be it known that I, WALTER S. 'TURN- PAUGH, a citizen of the United States, re siding at Forth Worth, in the county Tarrant and State of Texas, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Exhibitors, of which the followingis a specification.
This invention hasv relation to exhibitors and particularly to rotatin exhibitors.
The object of the invent on is to provide an upright drum arranged to rotate about an electrical conduit which of the drum and which 'drumhas its outer Surface arranged forzexhibiting purposes and is equipped with suitable electric illuminatin devices.
A urther feature resides in the installation of a motor in fixed relation to the inner side of the drum and driving the latter by means of a power transmitting connection engaging a pulleyfixed on the conduit-shaft which latter is also stationary,
Finally the object of theinvention is to provide means of the character described that will be strong, durable, efiicient, and easy of operation, simple and comparatively inexpensive to construct, and also in which the severalv parts will not be likely to get out of working order. I
With the above and other objects in view, the invention has relation to certain novel features of construction and operation, an
example of which is described in this specification and illustrated in the accompanying drawings, wherein:

In the drawings the numeral 1, desi nates a vertical drum having any number of sides according to the desires of the builder. The drum is suitably constructed and one 01' more may be employed. It is not necessary to have an overheadsupport for the drum and the same is mounted to rotate about a conduit pipe 2 which constitutes the shaft of the drum and l have termed this part a conduit-shaft. The lower portion of the pipe is bent in a gradual curve to form a iorizontal member The member' and a portion of the conduit-shaft is either embedded in concrete or disposed below a floor or other support. At the outer end of the shelf an angular bracket 16 having a portion overhanging the pulley 13, is secured. This belt is properly guided by idlers 21 supported by the brackets 16. It will be noted that the motor is carried by the drum and driving the belt about the fixed pulley 13 of the shaft 2 causes the drum to rotate, the driving means being thus entirely concealed within the drum. A small door 22 is provided in one side of the drum whereby access to the interior may be had.
Suitable electric lights 23 may be disposed about the top of the drum and supplied with current by wires 24: connected to the wires 18. Posters and other display sheets are secured on the outer drum in any suitable manner, and these will be displayed tates. 1. In a rotary exhibitor, a hollow shaft, a drum mounted to rotate about the shaft, a pulley fixed on the shaft, a motor carried I by the drum and having-driving connection with the pulley, contacts disposed about the shaft, electrical conductors extending through the shaft and having connection brushes carried by the drum engaging with the contacts and hav ing connection with the motor.
2. In a rotary exhibitor, a hollow shaft, electrical conductors in the shaft, abearing member fixed on the shaft, a second bearing member rotatable about the shaft and over the first member, a drum mounted on-the second bearing member, a pulley carried by the shaft and fixed thereto Within the drum, contacts about the shaft Within the drum having connectionwith the conductors of the shaft, other contacts carried by the drum and engaging the first contact and connected with the motor, a motor carried by the drum, and a connection between the pulley and the motor for transmitting rotation to the drum.
3. In a rotary fixed in position, electrical conductors in the shaft, a bearing member fixed on the shaft, a second bearing member rotatable about the shaft over the first member, a drum having display spaces on its outer surface and secured on the second bearing member, a pulley carried by the shaft and fixed thereto Within the drum, concentric contacts mounted on the pulley, and having connection With the conductors of the shaft,
brushes supported by the drum and travel ing on the contacts, a motor carried by the drum and having connection with the brushes, and a belt engaging with the pulley and the motor for transmitting rotation to the drum.
